Installing an iPod in Your Car

Alright so you’ve bought this brand new touch screen iPod and you’ve just realized that you have no idea how to make it play in your car. This can be frustrating, especially if you’re forced to listen to FM radio in rush-hour traffic. Well hooking up your iPod is actually very simple and as long as you follow my instructions, you’ll be rocking out to Tom Waits and Bob Dylan in no time.

1. First makes sure that you have all of the supplies you need to make it happen. You will need an iPod, obviously, you will also need an AUX cord or a radio transmitter.
2. Alright, if you’re on the fence as to which connection you should choose, keep in mind that an AUX cord is by far the cheapest and easiest way to hook your iPod up to your stereo. So if you’re on a budget and you’re lazy, then this is the way to go. Also if you drive in the city often, radio transmitters may receive a lot of interference, so keep this in mind as well when making your decision.
3. Before you purchase an AUX cord, make that you car has an AUX input. If it is, all you need to you is hook one end to your iPod and the other end to your car stereo. Then set the stereo to AUX and start playing away. It’s that simple.
4. If you must get a radio transmitter, all you will have to do is plug one end of the cord to your iPod and the other end will plug into the cigarette lighter of your car. Then you will have to set the correct frequency on your radio. The exact frequency should be included in the instruction manual.
5. If you want to go all out with car accessories for your iPod, you can even buy kits that will allow you to mount your iPod on your dashboard or allow you to coordinate your phone calls with the music. These fancy additions aren’t necessary for playing music so it’s really up to you.
