A Review Of The Sharp LC40LE821
When it comes to LCD televisions, the Sharp LC40LE821E is above the curve. The TVs design is one of the slimmest and more elegant on the market today, leaving the style conscience consumer impressed with the models glass finish and rounded corners. The Sharp Quattron LC-40LE821E not only impresses with its design style, but also in its functionality with the inclusion of yellow to the normal RGB (Red Green Blue) colour spectrum--Sharp has dubbed the addition of this fourth colour as Quad Pixel technology. Although Quad Pixel technology has created a slight backlighting issue at the edges of the picture, the added yellow has given the televisions picture an increased brightness and highly sharp look; the backlighting problem is hardly noticeable.
The Sharp LC-40LE821E boasts a ton of features: 1920 by 1080 resolution on a forty inch screen, a Nicam Sound System, Freeview High Definition, Quad Pixel technology of course, four HDMI sockets along with several other inputs, and a digital tuner. Sharp claims that the inclusion of the yellow in the RGB increases the colour range by a thousand times. The Quad Pixel technology renders realistic and accurate picture colours, and smooths out picture gradation.
The Sharp Quattron LC40LE821E boasts an innovative onscreen built in menu feature. When one begins to navigate through the menu functions, the picture on the screen becomes a bit smaller. However, the menu floats around the picture, allowing the user to continue to watch TV as he or she is using the menu system. This feature comes in quite handy, for example, when the person browsing the menu system is not the only viewer in the room, or viewer wants to set a recording time for another show, yet not miss any of the current programming.
Because the roll out of Freeview HD programming is currently underway in the UK, if the Freeview HD programming is available in your specific area, the Sharp LC40LE821E lets you pull in the HD through the aerial antenna. An internal 8GB Hard Drive is included with the Sharp LC-40LE821E as well. That menu feature allows one to record right to the hard drive for later viewing, though 8 Gigs holds only about forty-five minutes of high definition video. But, 8 Gigs can also hold up to two and half hours of conventional Standard Definition (SD) video.
Sharp LCD television models are normally known for not the greatest Standard Definition picture. In general, LCD televisions today have been able to produce a very stable and noise free SD picture. Sharps response to an unstable and noisy SD picture is the LC-40LE821E. The Quad Pixel technology, the yellow sub-colour, and the added brightness of the overall picture has made static SD pictures on the Sharp televisions a thing of the past.
The Sharp LC40LE821E is an excellent television buy. LCD screens make it sometimes difficult to see all the nuance of a dark scene, but Sharps Quad Pixel technology, the additional yellow sub-colour, and slim, sleek design gives the distinguishing consumer something to seriously think about. In relation to other name brand televisions--for example, the higher end Sony TVs--the Sharp LC40LE821E is, if not, one of the best.
