Samsung D840 – Good But not Better..

Samsung D840 bears an uncanny resemblance with LG Shine. Its thin, has a reflective screen and is silver in colour. But this handset does not really ape the LG shine. The screen is not that shiny, the handset is slim and there is no scroll bar. Still, as many people have observed, Samsung could have done better with its Samsung D840.

Nonetheless, the Samsung D840 comes through as a elite handset in terms of looks. The handset is slim, making it easier for grip and to slip into the pockets. Plus, the Samsung D840 is also wide to that it does not appear as if one is using a thin thing against the ears. Accessing the expandable memory micro SD slot is really easy, it is conveniently found at the right side of the phone. The keypad is flat and the camera is situated at the back of the handset.

Feature wise the Samsung D840 is not really a show stealer. Still it manages to be packed with some contemporary features to save its position from being obsolete. The camera is of 2 MP, with LED photo light to make imaging experience better. No, it does not have auto focus, so the photographer has to be a little cautious when clicking pictures in dim environment.

The music player supports MP3, ACC, ACC+ and e-AAC+ formats. The quality of sound in decent, though there is no 3.5 mm jack adaptor. The Samsung D840 also comes sans FM radio. Yes, a disappointment here. Talking more about disappointing musical experience, the Samsung D840 comes with limited 10 message tone. It does not allow you to download more, nor are all Mp3 tones compatible with vibrate mode.

Samsung D840 comes with a good navigation mechanism. When scrolling through the menu, list of options, a window pops up listing the options on the sub-menu. All one needs to do is to press the right button, and one reaches straight to the menu. Other features of Samsung D840 are- tri-band network, Bluetooth, USB & EDGE advantage, WAP, XHTML, 70 MB of internal memory, 2.5 hours of talk time with 250 hours of standby.
