Introducing The Sony KDL-55HX800 3D TV

In this 3D TV review, we'll have a look at the Sony KDL-55HX800, the least expensive of the series of 3D compatible televisions released by Sony in 2010. The 55-inch model starts at a little over $2000, which is comparable to the Samsung UNC7000 series, which have similar features and are of comparable quality. This television has a sharp edge-lit LED backlight with local dimming for clear viewing that is adjustable and easy on the eyes. The 2D works well and the 3D is absolutely mesmerizing. The view can be switched from 2D to 3D with the simple press of a button on the Remote Control. This Sony television does not have built in Wi-Fi as some similar models do, but it does have the option for Wi-Fi if you choose. The KDL-55HX800 comes with a video interactive suite that includes Netflix, YouTube, NPR, Amazon Video on Demand, Yahoo Widgets and more neat features. Sony created this 3D TV with some of the best modern features and simplicity of use in mind.

The Sony KDL-55HX800 boasts a Motionflow Pro 240hz refresh rate for smooth, fluent viewing and an impressive screen resolution of 1080p. The picture is always crisp with intense contrast and eye-popping colors. You will need to purchase a sync transmitter for around $50 and 3D glasses separately at a cost of approximately $150. Keep in mind, no other brand of 3D glasses are compatible with this television. There are 4 HDMI ports on this television; 2 on the back and 2 on the side. There is also a USB hook up on the side for your camera or computer images. The sound quality on this model is satisfactory, but could be improved with an additional sound accessory package. Overall, the Sony KDL-55HX800 is a great Sony 3D TV that has an elegant design that is thin, unobtrusive and blends well with most decor. It also has a swivel base so that you can turn the television in the direction of your choosing as needed. There is also an energy saving switch that can be used to reduce power consumption during standby mode without having to unplug the television.
