Im driving from Seatac to vancouver sun at around noon , Is it out of the way to pass thru seattle for lunch?

If not, is there a particular neighborhood we should go for lunch to stay on a direct route? how long should the drive take including border time?

Nope, the I-5 (assuming you're taking it) goes directly through Seattle, pretty much into downtown.

From Sea-Tac it'd probably take you about 45 min to get to the city, so you'll still be on time for lunch.

Parking downtown on Sundays last time I knew was free. Check the signs again just in case.

If you want a small shop lunch, go towards northern downtown district (like Belltown, Queen Anne...basically anywhere up the hills, and ANY area with the Space Needle in sight).

If you go over the big bridge on I-5 (north past the space needle), maybe you can stop and have lunch in the U-District (where our university is...it has the football stadium near the lake). There are PLENTY of small shops there.

Otherwise, you can always find higher class restaurants in the downtown area, but traffic and parking is annoying sometimes (Like McCormick and Schmicks *sp, the Metropolitan Grill). You can find casual restaurants like Red Robins (for burgers on the waterfront), Dick's (if you go up near Queen Anne ask anyone where it is....best burgers and shakes around!).

Then you have your McDonalds and Jack in the Box just about EVERYWHERE. (I liiiike.)

From Sea-Tac to Vancouver (Canada or Washington?)...

Canada is about 4.5 hours from Sea-Tac.
3hours 20 minutes if you go 70 mph the whole way (never will go 70 the whole time though).

This might include extra time border patrol might take to search your car...but usually they aren't too slow.

Plus another 20 minutes to get to Vancouver itself.

*Thats probably 4 hours to get to Vancouver from Sea-Tac at both city centers.

Yes, I've actually been there. Have you heard of traffic?
I've been to Sea-Tac 5 times in the last year....I live in South Seattle, too. It takes 25 minutes to get there, but going through airport traffic would take another 5-10.

You obviously haven't been to Vancouver lately. I went twice once in August, and again in December. It's summer, so think about how busy it'll be. It takes 3-3.5 hours depending on traffic, plus another 30 min to get through the boarder trafffic, plus another 15-30 to get to Vancouver.

You can't just say 2.5 hours and then the questioner ends up being dissappointed from delay. If they arrive earlier, then good for them. Then again, u did say expect an hour at the boarder...
so is your answer 3.5 hours? CLOSE ENOUGH.

wow 140 miles/60 mph = 2.5 hours...direct math doesn't work because there's things called "variables".
