All about the Fire Wire Port

Fire wire Ports have taken the name Fire wire from the FireWire technology that is used to transfer data at amazing speeds from one electronic device to another. Fire wire ports are serial ports and have been in use since1995. Apple Inc., were the first to include them in digital camcorders. These days it’s common to find them in almost all devices. All Apple devices contain Fire wire ports. The fire wire port is very handy and allows you to plug and connect different devices. Using a fire wire port you can connect your scanner with the computer. Fire wire ports have amazing data transfer ability. There are two types available in the market today. You can opt for the Fire wire 400 or the Fire wire 800. The Fire wire 800 has a higher data transferring ability and the result you get is extraordinary. The Fire wire 400 cable is also equally good. The only difference between the two Fire wire port cables is their design. Fire wire 400 cable has a flat and straight design, while the 800 looks more like a block.

Using fire wire ports to upload images from any digital camera on to the computer Hard Drive means there is no loss in picture quality. With technology advancing these days you will find printers that can be attached to cameras. Fire wire ports come in handy to establish a good connection so you can print your pictures directly. This way you do not have to upload your pictures to the computer hard disk and then have them printed.
