Home Speaker Help Needed?

I have a 7 year old RCA mini-shelf system in my room. I hooked up two floor standing Sony speakers as a replacement of the original speakers, and I want to buy a sub as well. My problem is I only have two speaker outputs (yeah, its a bummer). I'm not the biggest audiophile out there so I was wondering if there is any type of Splitter Cable I can buy to hook up a sub? Or is there any way I can hook one up without buying a receiver? Thanks!

Many subs with a built in amplifier have a pass through port on the sub. ie, you would run both the left and right speaker cables to the subwoofer, then out to the tower speakers from the sub. However, it is going to take the bass out, and play it on the sub, and not pass the bass onto your tower speakers. (which is usually good, if you don't have very high end tower speakers)
