Wall Mounts - Make up Your Mind before Using That Drill
If you have made up your mind to invest in a TV mount, there are a few things that you must consider before making the final decision. A wall mount is the designed to give your home theater a professional look. It can also enhance the look of your room when used for Flat Screen or plasma TV sets. You can use the valuable floor space, freed as a consequence for other purposes.
When you buy a TV mount you must ensure that your model complies with the VESA requirements. It is a standard requirement used by television manufacturers to standardize the mounting hole patterns on the back of the TV. The common mounting hole patterns as recommended by VESA include 75X75mm, 100X100mm, 200X100mm and 200X200mm. They are measured from left to right and from top to bottom.
Every TV mount will list the VESA requirement for that particular model. You can find the VESA measurement of your TV in the instruction manual or you can even check the measurements yourself physically with a measuring tape. After confirming the screen size and the weight compliance of your TV mount, you can select the perfect one to match your television.
There are many types of wall mounts that you can select from. The most commonly used wall mount is the fixed type. This is a low profile mount which does not offer you any flexibility. It sits on the wall like a picture frame. No maneuvering is possible because they have no movable parts. The space between the back of the TV and the wall is small. It is ideal for flat screen television and gives a sleek, flushed look.
A tilting mount allows you to adjust the screen position up or down. You can change positions ranging between 5° to 15°. This mount is perfect for those who prefer changing viewing positions often. They are slightly expensive than the fixed type models.
The swivel type TV mount adds another dimension to the movement of the mount. In addition to the upward and downward movement of the screen you can also move them sideways from left to right and swing it away from the wall by a good two feet.
Most walls have wooden studs for you to fix your TV mount on. Stud finders can be used to locate their position on the walls. It the walls are completely concrete, then you can use concrete mounting anchors for fixing the TV mounts.
Before making any cuts or holes on the walls it is better to decide where exactly you would like to place your TV in the room. This can help you avoid any inconvenience later.
